    Hello,

I have just bought a new Sharp Aquos LC-26GA5E television.

The image is exceptional and the PC mode is like having an
expensive LCD PC monitor, but there is a problem.

When the background turns light grey to white, I can clearly see a
vertical bar 2 inches wide from top to bottom in which the contrast
is slightly different from the rest of the image. When the picture gets
more dark the bar is no longer visible. The bar appears to the left side
of the screen and is always on exactly the same place.

I get the same result in either TV, Satellite or PC mode.
With satellite and PC mode the vertical bar is more apparent because
the input signal is very clear.

In PC mode when I see the bar and I turn the contrast from 0 to 100
there are constrast levels where the bar blends with the background and
dissapears. (If anyone has the same model he can try in PC mode opening
microsoft word, maximizing the windows and closing all opened documents
so that the grey background is visible. Is the colour and constrast the
    same across the entire screen?)

Does anybody know if this is a problem with the AQUOS LC-26GA5E
range in general or is the one I have faulty?

I hope you can help because the Sharp support here in Greece is non
    existent...

    Thanks.
    hgg2005.

I've heard about this problem before with another lcd (the westinghouse 37 inch, only available in the usa). But this is obviously a big defect, return it immediately!

What is your connectivity? Is it S-Video?

I had a similar symptom on my LC-26GA4E - roughly the same thickness, roughly the same place on screen, but it was a wavy line.

This only appeared when using the S-Video input on my LC-26GA4E.
I thought it was maybe a cheap cable, so I bought a relatively decent one, from Mark Grant on these forums, which made a small improvement but not enough.

Llanowar, thats what I think too.

onefivenine the problem occurs with a scart connection (good quality cable) and
with the tv tuner as well so it seems that its a defect of the set.

Is there anyone with the same TV that does not have this problem?
This will answer my question for good.

    Thank you!
