My pc has suddenly stopped sharing on SMB sharing to my Xbox (XBMC). I can see the pc name on my WORKGROUP but it sees no further than this, even though I have six shared hdd's. I have tried this with 2 different Xboxes and the problem occurs on both of them. I can see the entire contents of my daughter's laptop, so it is not the Xbox or XBMC that is at fault.

I have tried running an XP repair on the pc but to no avail. I think it may be a service that is failing but I turned all networking services on last night and the problem still occurs.

    Any ideas?

Have you got a firewall blocking the connection?

The Xbox uses port 21 and I have this open on both XP firewall and my router. I can transfer from my pc to the xbox by cuteftp and Qwix and I can transfer from Xbox to Xbox via the router and cuteftp as well, so I don't think it's a firewall problem. I'm loathe to reinstall XP from scratch as I have so much stuff installed, Vista is a joke and I was considering a Linux dual-boot using Sabayon, but after creating a partition for this on my system disk and starting the install, there was an exception and the install failed. I might try Ubuntu, but 'm not fussed on the dual-boot idea tbh.

SMB is on port 139 generally (and possibly 445), port 21 is ftp.
