    Too right.

Watch them tonight then watch 'em again when SKY1 shows them and then again when the DVD is released and then again as a HD download or even a HD broadcast next year:)

    I like these shows....

Loved it! Stayed in all night with pop corn in one hand and mouse in the other! :D

What did you all think of these season premiers?

    SPOILERS:

SG1 was a bit dissapointing to be honest. Browder is fine as an actor but his character is too similar to O'neil. Especially in his gestures. They should really have him be his own character with his own traits.

Still it was good to see the old gang again.

Atlantis. Absolutely briliant. Mitch pillegi! Hope he stays on as a regular but i somehow doubt it.
The battles with the Daedalus were amazing :smashin:

Hope the ship stays arround and they can use it to explore the pegasus galaxy (now that the goauld threat is less) and kik some wraith ass! :)

BSG. Still a great show. Takes off where season one left off. Still to early to say much about this season. I guess there will be more to talk about later on.

    Still. Human Cylon hybrids!

    Not a bad evenings entertainment:)

    BSG......... Cracking season opener.
SG1......... With such a dramatic change in the cast it didn't feel right but I expect everything will come together. Not too impressed with the story.
Atlantis.... Picked up right were it left off and the new additions will let the series branch out in quite a few directons.

I agree with all your coments. My favourite out of the 3 series openers is.

    1. Atlantis. Wow excellent
    2. BSG. Very good :smashin:
    3. SG-1. A bit corny and not much happens.

Out of all these shows I wanted to see SG-1 the most (my fav :D ). I felt the last episode of series 8 SG-1 was a bit lame. I hoped this was going to change with the new series opener. hopefully episode 2 will be better.

Shame they didn't do a 2 episode kick off.

With 3! shows in one night i cant say im surprised they didnt!

(Wheres Dave? being such a BSG buff I thought he would have started a thread by now! :D He must be busy watching it!)

I also thought SG1 was a bit weak. Like I said, Browder was trying too hard to be like jack. I think if they dont change his character a bit there wont be a 10th season.

Atlantis IS the new SG1! That show just gets better and better.
Now we have junkie soldiers hooked on wraith enzymes!

LOL... He has a bit of a messed up eye. Poor chap, he has ruinied his pulling chances.

Atlantis is getting very good and I think you are right about SG-1. I hope it improves and there is loads of fighting episodes with the gould

Im happy as a sand boy these shows are back on. All I need now is for Lost to start back up.

Enjoyed all 3 shows but was really looking forward to Atlantis as the last 2 episodes of Season 1 really built it up and it didnt dissapoint, from what I have read the Daedalus will be doing constant trips back and forth between Earth and Atlantis so hopefully that means more ship on ship action later in the series.

As for SG-1, it was an odd episode but it is a 3 parter so hopefully as a whole it will be a good story but was defently strange seeing Ben and Claudia on screen again.

Like other people have said, Battlestar didnt progress far but I am sure over the series it will get better and better.

I'm waiting for the HD version. Why do they take longer to come out? Normally 3-7 days longer than normal SD version.

    Do u mean through torrents?
Im also looking for something higher in quality. Recently Atlantis season one was released in HD. one file (episode) is roughly 700mb
The best stuff i ever saw was 2 episodes of Enterprise. Each was 1.5gb! propper 1280X720 resolution.
This sort of stuff you can only download at this point. Unless you live in the US!

I wish someone did release each episode at that resolution. I know the files would be huge and use a lot of space, and take ages to download, but if its only one a week it should be possible and easyer.

Me too :smashin: One of the main reasons i'm watching these shows like this is for the improved PQ and especially HD even if it isn't true 720p its awesome compared to the sky broadcasts. So I have them but I think I may wait a few more days before watching - to see if a better HD version appears.

A decent 45 min HDTV episode is about 700MB in size. The previous seasons of Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica were about this size per episode. SG1 was only available at 350MB - still better than sky over here. Did you notice that a better quality SG1 appeared today up from 285MB to 350MB  so it is worth waiting a little while plus its odd but I find I can't stand to wait a week between episodes so I horde two or three and watch them back-to-back to get a better fix :D

Your feedback is interesting - I half expected as much for each episode based on last year. SG1 season 8 was in a holding pattern not sure whether to shut up shop - most episodes were only average and some were :boring: . I hoped that by replacing so much cast they will effectively re-start a new show out of the old. Battlestar Galactica was awesome but always on slow burn and only slowly leaking the juicy bits of the plot - this is why it was so good. Stargate Atlantis was the real surprise hit though - superb - everything SG1 once was and more and its good to here its started off well too. I can't wait to watch them all but I also want to savour them in HD if I can... :lease:

Does anyone watch The 4400? It is very good too and season two is going from strength to strength :smashin:

    Cheers
    KableMan

PS. You all got them quick - I only got them in full today!?

Hate to burst your bubble but a HD cap runs to around 4-5gig, anything less is a capture taken from a HD source and recompressed with a suitable codec which will always offer a reduction in PQ compared to the original.
The 700mb avi's are at a higher resolution than the 350mb avi's but they are not a patch on the true HD caps that appear on the net.

The US scifi channel at this time doesn't broadcast in HD although last year Atlantis was broadcast by a Canadian channel in HD and BSG was shown in HD on Universals new HD channel.

Oh yes I know true HD is on another level all together - I watched the praying mantis documentary and it was only 2.5GB and yet it was amazing. I guess I meant I want to hold out for higher resolution episodes, and most of these seem to be taken from a HD source, as a 700MB divx still manages to kick sky's, telewest's and good old freeview's butts for PQ. And 700MB is double 350MB and I want the best I can get to watch on my lovely 50" DLP :D

I thought true HD quality shows were very rare.

I didn't know about the US scifi channel though - thanks for the info - this is disappointing :( Maybe we'll be lucky and they'll broadcast them in HD again. Fingers crossed :)

    Thanks

I watch the 4400 as well. A great series, Check out Lost, The Dead Zone, Numb3rs, Navy NCIS. These are all fav's of mine.

It only took me 2.5 hours for SG-1 :D

I didnt know there was 3-4 gig versions of these 40 min shows. The 700meg is good but there is compression visable. Although I would rather watch a 700meg version than Skys offerings.

SG-1 is at it's best when they are fighting Gould. I hope they get back to this and leave all the style they have adopted in the last half of the 8th series.

I downloaded the HDTV sourced rips of Atlantis last year and even though they were not true HD they were alot better quality than the standard Sci-Fi channel rips (better colours/detail) but like Starburst said, the HDTV rips were done from an HD channel in Canada and this time they havent started airing Atlantis yet so no HDTV rips anytime soon :(

Yeah SG1's second epsiode was far superior to the first, these multi ep stories do tend to have a weaker segment though so ep3 should be a cracker.
Claudia Black once again was excellent and great to see Lexa Doig, lets hope both make regular guest appearences although Claudia I expect will only be featured occasionally.

BSG was excellent once again and Atlantis dispite using a well worn plot at least did it well.

    Quotes of the weekend......

    "crap indeed"
"I didn't hear any screaming or squishing sounds, so they're probable ok."

BSG was good this week, I liked the robot Cylons. Lets hope theres more fighting action to come.

Has any of the Cylons said 'By your comand' yet? I used to love that saying. :D

    Favourites this week are:

    SG-1
    BSG
    Atlantis.

A total reverse from last week. :smashin:

Only used once and that was the final line in the mini-series.
It must have been used for effect only since there does not seem to be a fixed command structure amongst the humanoid cylons although Boomer is certainly considered inferior by Six.

I thought this weeks atlantis was quite good. More ship based action is always good in my book. Helps me forget all about Startrek!

SG1 is getting better. Apparently, there is going to be a new enemy this season. Even stronger than the gould.

Im sure u saw them mentioned in episode 2? :D

No there are still plenty of Gould around its just that without their Jaffa armies they dont really have much power anymore so are not as big a threat but I am sure they will be back.
