I have a brand new xd screen material from Seymour to make a 3m wide 2.35:1 screen, with a 20 degree tilt cut to avoid moire - looking for £300 including postage from Ireland. I didn't use it as I went for a bigger 3.6m screen in the end.

    Thanks!

    Hi steve,
Its too big for my needs but i could trim it down for my project.
I checked the price with seymour usa on a linear foot basis and i think i could get an xd screen brand new for around arlond £140 plus delivery and customs.
On that basis i could offer you £200inc which i think is fairly good for a 2nd hand screen and it would take material currently doing nothing for you off your hands.
No worries if its too low.
    Cheers alan

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for the offer. It's a bit low I'm afraid, once you add a 20 degree tilt cut to avoid moire (just under 50 dollars), shipping (which was 150 dollars) and customs it adds up quickly. Plus I have the cost to post it to you. I'd let it go for 250 pounds including postage - as you say its not making me money sitting here however it is brand new, I only opened the box to make sure it wasn't damaged but its never even been rolled out.

You said it cut to 2.35:1 so you didn't order 98" full height screen? I need 16:9.

Sorry I haven't been getting notifications of replies to this thread, apologies for not replying.

Bookle: No problem and thanks for giving it a go to make a deal, best of luck with your screen build, it's pretty great when it's all done :)
Bilimoria: I'm not sure if that was a question for me or for bookle?
Sean: The screen material overall dimensions are 123" x 55.2", with a 20 degree tilt cut.

I will keep a closer eye on this thread from now on sorry.

    Hi Steve,
It was question to you which you answered by giving size of the screen. Originally I was looking for 16:9 screen but now I have Isco II lens so I am looking for either 2:1 or 2.35:1 screen. Your is 2.35:1 so I am still interested. Is this plain fabric?

Hi Bilimora, its a plain white acoustically transparent fabric material from Seymour AV. It's the AT fabric called "XD 98-Fixed frame screen material" on the invoice I was sent
My original screen plan was for a 3m wide (118" horizontal width) 2.35:1 screen with enough fabric to wrap around the edges by a couple of inches - basically following the design guide from Seymour AV. Chris Seymour in his email before shipping told me:
    "For a 118" x 50.2" image, assuming a +2.5" margin, the total piece size would be 123" x 55.2". We can fit a 20 degree tilted cut on a piece that's 98" x 12'."

I hope this answers the question, if not just fire away with more, I know its a bit hard to get a full picture of the sizes. The screen is still wrapped in the original packaging, in the original cardboard shipping tube. I only popped the end off the tube as I wanted to make sure it didn't get damaged in shipping.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Hi Brendan84, thanks for the offer but its a lot less than I can accept sorry. These screens are very costly to ship from the states and pay customs duty on.

    Hi Steve

I would be buying on the off chance I'd find a use for it sometime, my best offer is €230 and I could collect this weekend.

    Hi Brendan,

Sorry I have been travelling with work for the last couple of days. With the exchange rate as it is the sterling price is pretty low compared to the euro price I paid for the screen, I checked out the postage to UK and the price in euro that I would accept would have to be 300 euro. It may be more than you are willing to pay but the price I paid was 450 plus customs and as I paid on the spot when it was delivered I don't have a record of what the customs payment was.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I fully appreciate you wanting to maximise the price on the screen but €300 is more than I can do. I'm pushing my budget at €230 as it is but in the spirit of negotiation I'll go outside my comfort zone and make what will be my final offer of €270. If you can't accept then I wish you all the best with the sale.

    Hi Brendan,

I just had a look at the Seymour AV website and the XD with the (extra cost) 20 degree tilt cut is still the best DIY screen that they supply and mine is brand new so a big discount on the final cost after all the shipping and customs costs. I think its worth 300 euro/ 250 STG so I'm going to hold out for a bit longer sorry. I do appreciate that you are trying to do a deal but I've priced it at a point that I'm willing to sell at. If it was an ex-demo or used screen it would be a lot different but it's never been taken out of the wrapper.

On the basis that it is resent packed in original packaging, is £220 inc delivery acceptable? As you have no sellers feedback are you willing to send first as that is usual on here?

    Hi burtonpark,

That's pretty much the same as brendan84's offer in euros (270 euro) that I turned down on Saturday except he was also going to collect it which saves me postage and what I'd lose on currency conversion. I'd need to get 250 sterling for it sorry, it was just too costly to let it go for less and I know the 3m wide 2.35:1 ration AV screen is a common size so someone will see it as a bargain that is just the right size for their setup sooner or later.

I've just taken a look at the guides and they've raised my interest in having a go at making a screen. How about meeting in the middle at €285, the few euros would help towards my petrol?

    Hi Mike0zero,

Brendan84 has agreed to buy it, was waiting until my room was put back together before calling to collect it as my amps have been taken down for some electrical rewiring in the room.

Brendan it looks like the room is going to be as is for a while as I'm getting delayed getting the wiring finished, it would be good to complete the deal if possible rather than wait?

    Thanks,

    Steve
