    How do fella's,

got a call from ST a few weeks ago wanting to replace my meter as they said i was using less water than they were registering, now, this is being replaced tomorrow and i havent had chance to call them back yet, but does this likely mean they owe me some money if ive been paying for water i havent been using??

    cheers in advance as always.

Sounds like it to me, should question them on it.

Was something on watchdog about water meters the other day being used on other houses as well as the peoples house who paid the bill and other incidents where people were paying more than they should be.

If you've been using less water than you've been paying for surely you're entitled to some money back.

How can they tell you've been using less water than they're registering, unless they came and checked the meter? In which case why didn't they just change it then?

My water meter is in the kitchen and there is a sensor outside for them to read it. I would think most are indoors:)

Most water meters are outdoors as far as I know

Is the indoor thing you have just a counter/internal reader perhaps?

Really? Are you sure? 11 here and all indoors and 6 new places next door and indoors there too. Perhaps it depends on when it was fitted? I've been here since it was built 9 years ago so maybe new places have them indoors? I have no idea how they would know that someone was using less water than they were registering though:confused: They are coming out to mine next week because the sensor outside doesn't work and they need to check that the meter is ok, if not it will have to be replaced but I don't think it's done by the same person:rolleyes:

That's strange here I think they fit the meter outside and have an indoor remote reader, we're not on a meter ourselves but our neighbour is and when it was installed when we turned our taps on their meter would spin :D

The meter is outside for them though, but the houses here are older, maybe it's something to do with that *shrug*

meters here were fitted when the places were built it may be that older properties have them outside as it was easier because there wouldn't be a space planned for them indoors? Makes no sense that the sensor for reading the meter would be indoors though, not with seven trent are you:rotfl:

Anglia water, and I think the indoors one is so the house owner doesnt have to go outside to check the meter to see a reading?

The sensor outside here is just a black plastic thing that they scan to check how much water you have used, I have to take my cupboard apart to see my meter and check the reading, methinks cowboy builders:rotfl:

We had a meter fitted a couple of months back. It's in the kitchen connected just after the stopcock. There's a wire that runs outside to a digital readout on the wall for reading the usage :)
