I'm off to watch the British Superbikes at Snetterton tomorrow  and need some advice. I'll be giving my KoncaMinolta Z2 it's first proper test at capturing high speed targets.

What is the best settings to use for 180 mph moving targets or when zooming in etc?
I figure it's about time I stopped using the Auto mode and found out what my camera can do.

Be gentle though as I'm a complete novice compared to some of you.

    Cheers, Mylo :)

Mylo i don't know how manual that cam is. Is it full manual or do you just have shutter-priority & aperture priority? stick it on shutter priority a 1/250 to 1/400 second should be fine.

Try and prefocus mate as you dont have a a great fps rate

You know, you might want to have a go with some traffic:laugh: Sounds funny i know but i'f you've always used auto it would be a good idea to get to know your camera better

The aperture of your lens is not constant, but the sun looks like it's here for the weekend, at high shutter speeds your lens will open up giving a shallow depth of field so focus will be critical.

cheers Sean. It turned out to be too damn hot for any serious photography
I'll research those links though as I have a few weeks now to practice before the next race.

I thought this shot couldnt be missed though

heh, plus the weight of 12 batterys

I took a few of other static shots, just trying to choose one to use in the photo comp.
The bit of the circuit my bro and I watch from only gives you a few seconds to set the shot as they are moving too fast. Some of the big lense canon boys were out taking some panning shots, you could take someones head off with those lenses:eek:

The IS on the 70-200 IS is designed for panning, soon as i get that i'm getting in to motorsport.

    I was only kidding Mylo,

I spent the day at a BBQ shooting nothing faster then a burnt sausage:laugh:
