Hi

I have a GT60 plasma and would like to calibrate the TV using Colour HCFR software.

I use the calibration for dummies guide with for colour and greyscale setting but there is no mention of how to set gamma correctly using the software.

My GT60 offers 10-100 IRE settings for gamma and I'm aiming for 2.4.

The only way I know is to adjust after running a greyscale test whichever IRE setting is out of target range, then re-running greyscale and keep adjusting till the line is close to 2.4.

If ther is a better way it would be nice to know.

Thanks

Yes it is!
First be sure you have the latest HCFR version. You'll find it in zoyd's dedicated thread on the avsforum.com
Then, you may have the option to set the targeted gama.
In the grayscale measurements area you'll see the target luminance and the measured one. Put the meter in continuous reading mode, select the desired IRE level and adjust until you reach the desired luminance( Y value).
But, I don't recommend you to get a perfect 10-100 IRE 2.4 gama, but more of an ascendant curve from 2.1 at 10ire to 2.3 at 40 with normal windows. APL patterns will give you a higher gama tracking by 0.1.
Hope that helps!
