Haven't you just answered your own question by stating "theres not one setting everyone agrees on"?

Incidentally i've got my brightness and contrast pretty much all the way down and it still looks fine.

Cinema mode
Contrast 65
Brightness 50
Colour 65
Sharpness 60
Colour temperature warm
Nr off

I calibrated using avia in a pioneer 989 hdmi, hope it helps.
But if its brand new keep cinema mode and put all settings to 40.
But i recently encountered screen retention even after 200 hours, so be careful always.
So now i am beginning to doubt the ''run in period'', it has been three days and the retention is gone to about 97%, so i hope by this time tommorrow it will have disappeared.

Regards.
