    All,

My set up is as follows:

Samsung HD950 DVD Player (HDMI video feed to):
Hitachi LD7200 LCD TV (speakers removed),
    Marantz 4200 AV Amp,
    Mordaunt Short 5.1 speaker system,
    Sky+ box,
    Panasonic NV950 VHS,
Cambridge Audio M1 multimedia Explorer remote.

I love the setup, but I'm not all together sure I have made the most of it. Time to fiddle and fettle is minimal as I have an easily aggravated SWMBO! :)

I feed the panel with the HDMI cable supplied by Samsung for DVD viewing.
The Sky+ box is fed to the RGB Scart socket.

I've spent today going over the various upscaling options on this forum (thanks to all who have contributed!) but remain confused as to the best way to make the most from my LCD panel. Can anyone with a similar set up let me know what they run the output of the DVD player at? Should I forget HDMI and use the component output of the DVD?

Have you made any changes to the way the panel is configured for the DVD via HDMI?

How about getting the best from the Sky+ box? Any tweaks I should know about for that?

I have also noted the buzzing threads about the Hitachi panel and mine does buzz. There is a simple fix though, turn up the amp! ;)

Thanks in advance for any help or tips!

    Jim

DVD, set to HDMI 1080i assumning your TV does 1080i. DVD sound to AV amp set to Bitstream out.
SKY, set to RGB not PAL and 16:9 not 4:3

I think I have that set up already, but will press some buttons this afternoon and check. The Hitachi definately supports 1080i, does it detect that level of input and switch to support it automatically then?

Sorry for the newbie questons, and thanks for the answer, keep them coming!
