Set Sky Box to Widescreen Without Using Remote

Recently moved into my first house that already has an old sky dish installed. The previous owner left his old Grundig Sky box which I've connected up to my panasonic plasma using a scart lead, the quality isn't the best but its watchable.

Unfortunatley he didn't leave the sky remote, so here's my question;

Is it possible to adjust the box to widescreen without using the remote? I'll probably be getting Sky HD before Christmas but I want to use this old Sky box to get some extra channels over freeview.

Sky+ box I am looking at can do it by just using the buttons on the box. Hit tv guide and use the up down, left right arrows to navigate. The use the select button to select and save widescreen 16:9 setting in services.

I think it is: TV Guide/Right Arrow/Right Arrow/System Set Up/Picture/

This is correct. Change the Settings to 16:9 using left/right then navigate down to save settings then hit select again. Then use backup to get back to your picture.

Thanks, that worked, I also set the picture output to RGB as it was set to PAL.

I noticed there was an option to add new channels, but to add them to the EPG you have to press the red button, is there a way around this?

No - Other than buying a replacement remote of course!
£15 from Argos and other hight street retailers.
