Just wondered, with my curvy box of Vista Ultimate I got both 64 & 32 bit os discs.
I have loaded the 32 bit one on my media centre -its going to be a while before even contemplating 64 (some drivers would be nice!), let alone affording a machine that can do it justice.

...and my question is, does this mean I am stuck with 32 bit, or can I in future upgrade to 64?

I'm not quite sure what the question is...

You can of course just buy a 64-bit CPU and install it, then you will be able to use 64-Bit Vista.

the question is (I think)My copy of vista came with 2 disks 1 32 bit and 1 64bit versions the OS, I have installed the 32bit version, does that mean I'm stuck with the 32bit version on the computer or can I use the 64bit version to upgrade at a later date, have I got that bit right Shazzam? anyway in answer to the question, my understanding is you are allowed to use either as long as you are only using 1 at a time, I may be wrong (usually am) and someone will be along to correct me if I am.

p.s. nearly forgot as Singh says you will need a 64bit cpu to run it on.

Cheers Guys - & I thought I was being direct!

Yes Curly read between the lines, its the licencing I was wondering about.

-So its either OS disc can be used, but as long its one at a time.

So when I replace my current media centre using a 64 bit processor, I can use my existing copy of ultimate.
