Bought a pair of MX 500 yesterday for my iPOD Shuffle...

    Disapointed...

    Bass... no progress
Treble... much more revealling and transparent but... also revelling the iPOD weaknesses... now I've got sibilance  ... like poor matched B&W or japanese speakers...
    Midrange... seems poor now... :(

The iPOD ones are not so good but a perfect match to the player sound and never get tired...

Anyway, they are less sensitive to positioning.. half a victory inside my helmet...

Anyway I left them playing all night to burn-in...

Just because they have the name "Sennhesiser" on them doesn't mean they are going to be high quailty. Just by looking at a picture they look abit cheap and rubbish. Plus they come in a cheap plastic carry case. The form covers remind me of earphones i got with my pound shop radio.

Don't expect good headphones from a name, names make cheap stuff too.

I think they are much better then the iPOD ones... except for bass.

But as they are more revealling they reveal more weaknesses too...

Sorry you think that FALP ny 500's are far better than my stock i-pod ones and I prefer them to the Sennheiser PX100. The bass in mines are excellent.

At least it was only 20.50€... even if they are the most expensive MX...

they are only £15, so some of the criticism is puzzling

The price obviously indicates its in the top if the budget category

    Nevertheless, still better than stocks

Now saving up for a apir of canal phones in £100-£150 range. Now which to get. :)

The price is not the point. If you read thro old threads a lot of people have commented on how good they are.

Just dissapointing to not experience what they refered to.

sorry this might seem irrelevant - it's just that what's happening here is substantiating my view in another thread; look, many people with many opinions about the same product. SQ is most definitely subjective, and not objective. :)

I wouldn't go blaming bad sound on headphones, its the source that's most likely the problem. My headphones which sound very good with my HD5 and MD sound terrible with Ipods, especially with lack of bass like you said.
I've listened to my friend's Sennz but im not sure which ones they are, but even to assume that they are the lower ones I thought they sounded excellent for in ear type phones, plenty of bass and great everything. This was with my MD and HD5, but with my friends Zen micro and an ipod the sennz sounded terrible, no bass or life. So I would not hesitate to assume that it's the ipod that has the bad sound, not the headphones.

It's both... lack of bass is no doubt the headphones... the rest is the player...

But the stock match between Apple player and phones is very enjoying.

My iPOD phones even make a Sony NW-E75 sound much better...

you never know, the E75 might not sound that great anyway, I've never heard it.

I highly doubt it's the 'phones, I do agree, the Ipod phones seem to make it have more bass, but they are bad at everything else. Any normal headphone sounds crap with it.
