I'm offering for sale one of my two Nuimo controllers. It's been powered on to check operation but has pretty much remained in its box since, as the one I have attached to our fridge via its built in magnet covers everything we require in the house (controlling Sonos, Hue and our HomeEasy plug sockets). Comes in original packaging and with the wall mountable base-plate and is the White/Silver model.

If you're not familiar with what a Nuimo is, then this should give a decent overview

Smart Lights (Philips Hue, Lifx) -

Music (Sonos, Spotify, Soundcloud, Pandora, iTunes) -

Computer (pretty much anything you can imagine) -

If you're even slightly technical, it's fully programmable and customisable (down to the output on the LED) and can be used to control pretty much anything that works with an HTTP API Senic - Developers. This can be low level using languages like Swift, Java, Python, NodeJS or a bit higher level with things like AppleScript / Automator.

These are retailing at $199 currently, so priced at £135 delivered for quick sale.

    Price and currency: £135
    Delivery: Delivery cost is included
    Payment method: BT or PPG
    Location: Glasgow
    Advertised elsewhere?: Not advertised elsewhere
Prefer goods collected?: I have no preference

Can it control Philips hue and Sonos at the same time? Like turn hue on and also skip a track?

Out of the box, with no customisation and simply by installing the Nuimo app it will allow you to switch between Hue and Sonos control with a vertical swipe on the touch area, so skipping a track and turning hue on would be two actions rather than one.

It is, howeever, fully customisable and programmable, so the correct answer is 'yes, it can'. How you would do it (between a macro, something like AppleScript or a bespoke API) depends on your particular setup and level of technical proficiency, but it really is a 100% flexible system.

I have set my second Nuimo up to talk to a Raspberry Pi on which I run Domoticz. I've then written a small wrapper for Sonos, Kodi and Hue, as well as my Amp and TV (which both have IP based control) in NodeJS which allows me to completely customise the functionality of every gesture. I've even got custom icons on the led display to make the status much easier to understand, and the switching between modes straightforward and wife/kid friendly. It works so well I don't have a requirement for two Nuimo, which is why this one is up for sale.

There's a hugely active developer community for the device, so there's tonnes of support on how to customise the functionality available. Not sure on your level of technical knowledge, but you can get a sense for the ways you can create custom apps (beyond those supplied by the Nuimo app itself) at Senic GmbH · GitHub

And all this is in addition to the fact you can just hook the Nuimo up to your computer/laptop and use it as an input device for apps such as Photoshop, Spotify, After Effects or whatever. It really is the most well built yet flexible device I've ever had.

Yeah been reading up a little on it. Seems to be quite easy to setup etc. I see you have it setup through raspberry Pi and wouldn't have this issue but has it got to stay tethered to one phone? So if I had it setup on my iPhone if I was not at my house it would become unusable?

As far as I know you can connect it to more than one device, but not at the same time. This means that you could link to each phone (or every compatible device) in the house and it would use any one that is in range, so if you're out but someone else is in, it would use whichever device is on and in range.

Obviously there are other options - tether it to your computer, to a tablet or (as I've done) to a device like a Raspberry Pi which is ever present.

    This does look cool.

How new are they ? Never seen an article or mention before.

There is a similar looking remote either just out of due, I forget the name but it looks very slick but nowhere near as powerful.

I think it is retailing for a £100 so this might be worth a bit more..

Payday soon so will keep an eye on this

The Nuimo itself only launched a couple of months ago. Prior to launch it was called the Flow Controller, which might be what you're thinking of.

As far as my unit goes, it's been out of its box for about two hours and is as good as brand new.

How easy is it to setup for Sonos just using an app? I have no coding abilities etc

PS can I use it direct with a Sonos or do I need a gateway of some sort?

It's a doddle to setup with Sonos and needs no coding skills. All you need to do is install the app on you phone / tablet / computer / Raspberry Pi and connect to it with bluetooth - the Nuimo will do all the rest. You can see a video about the pairing process here

How do I set up Nuimo?

and this one shows how you pair with differing smart devices (including Sonos) and switch between them

How do I switch between applications or devices?

Got a good review as well, just a shame there is never a place to test these gadgets out.

That does look interesting, and probably owes some debt to Nuimo during development. Does look a little clumsy though, and I'm not a huge fan of the glowing S on the top - definitely prefer Nuimo's clean, Apple-like design. Cheers for sharing.

Yours is a bit more professional and would go nicely in my on-site bag of tricks.

If I get the job for some work I am waiting to hear back from I will make you an offer

I am seriously interested in this.
Just to confirm, it would only work when my phone was in range and connected?
That could be the deal breaker - if I need to connect it to a tablet or similar that is in the house permanently, I might as well use that for the control.

It needs to be paired to a device to work, whether that be the phone in your pocket or another device in the home. agreed you could use the other device, but the big advantages about this is the full programmability, the ability to control multiple devices without switching apps, and the fact that its considerably faster to just turn the dial to dim the lights on your Hue or drop the volume on your Sonos than to use any app on a smart device.

If you can meet halfway at £125 then I'm happy with that. Can get it posted out tomorrow too.

    Go on then. £125.
Send me some details across in a PM.
I am unlikely to pay until tomorrow though - I would rather pay by PPG.
    Thanks
