My mum has asked me to sell her Panasonic digibox, they no longer have Sky so I have the viewing card aswell. Before I put it up for sale, is it legal to sell it with the card, is the card any use to anyone else? Does it make it more valuable with the card?

    Thanks
    Greg

The card belongs to Sky, so it would be illegal to sell it.

If you're thinking of putting it on ebay with the card, there is a high possibility the listing would be cancelled if it was spotted.

So, it's probably just best to bin the card and sell the box on it's own?

There's a trade of cards on ebay, why I dont understand. In my experience a 'non-contract' card gives no more channels than no card. I had an old card, but wasn't hard faced enough to sell it on its own when I felt it was useless. Ebay tend not to like illegal sales but permit these deals, so I don't believe it is 'illegal'. Quite what law you'd be breaking perhaps - sale of Sky cards contray to making profit from fools, sec 4 paragraph 2. If you're selling the box I'd include the card if you can get more.

usually an old sky card will give you free to air channels that are encrypted like ITV1,2 C4, C5 etc. You can't receive these without a card and therefore the card is useful. Personally I wouldn't worry about the legal remifications and would sell the box with the card - there are many more people getting away with a lot worse as far as sky's concerned.
