    I'm looking to sell my car privately soon. A Mazda 6 TS2 worth around £2,000 - £2,500.

The thing is it's due a service and MOT in April. So should I get that done now and just absorb the cost or should I leave it for now?

I'm tempted to leave it as the cost could be 10% of the selling price but I know if I was buying myself a new service and MOT really helps.

    Any advice?

If your going to try a private sale then I reckon you should at least get the MOT done as 12 months MOT sounds good on paper , and its a difficult time to sell.

If you are going to trade it then I wouldn't do anything , PX values seem so low that it would hardly make a difference. THe dealers usually have a mechanic anyway so servicing etc is relatively cheap.

Thanks stoatman, I think you're right - I'll pay for an MOT and leave the service for now.

Impending MOT and Service leaves potential buyers reasons to barter, have a look around your area, there maybe similar cars with recent service and MOT's that the buyers will go for over yours.
