I have talked to a CRT guy in the bussiness today about CRT projectors in general.

I was mentioning that i was thinking of buying a Seleco projector.

However, he said "Don't buy the crap"

    What?

He said he has returned so many Seleco CRTs from customers for repair, often the circuit boards blow or any other component fails so he stopped selling the crap he said.
He said they are like Fiats, the cars.

    Can anyone respond to this?

    Are they low quality projectors?

Seleco projectors in general are excellent and good value for money.

I have sold many ex-demo seleco projectors and never had any problems.

CRT projectors irespective of make need very careful set up.
They have a huge range of adjustment and often dealers and so called installers put them roughly in the right place because there happens to be a support where they want it and use the PJs adjustments to correct for the misplacement.

The further you get the projector in the wrong place the quicker it will fail. CRT's are a very well established technology and on the whole there are no rouge manufactuers.

The Seleco range do sit more at the budget end of the CRT spectrum.

...and there are far more Seleco projectors out in the market than just about any other CRT brand.

The Seleco product failure rate was about 4% when I worked for Owl. That is about on par with the rest of the industry. Most of the faults were caused by incorrect set-up as Roland suggested.

Seek a second opinion (or two) from other experienced CRT resellers.

    Regards
