Could someone in the know, explain the key differences between these machines, apart from the glass lenses on the 500HT.

Does the 450HT accept a progressive component input?

Can the 450HT be upgraded to 500HT spec over time ?

Can the AKB line be removed without damage to the projector?
    Thanks.

The 450 and 500 are identical except for the lenses. So, yes, the 450 can be upgraded to 500 level by simply changing the lenses.

Progressive scan component. There is an optional modification to add a progressive scan input.

The AKB Line is not as intrusive on the new generation 450 & 500 projectors. The AKB Line modification that Owl developed for the 400 is now standard on 450 and 500 projectors.
