    Hi there,

Firstly, I'd like to say a big thank you to Alan and Kim at Owl Video.

I ended up with the Seleco 150 which Uncle Eric auctioned off for GOSH a few months ago.
Unfortunately, by the time I got it, it had failed, but now thanks to Kim's diagnosis I've managed to repair it.

The plan is to use the 150 to "test the water" of crt - and then look to upgrade to maybe an 8" later in the year.

(my other proj is 1024 x 768 DLP - which is much sharper but personally I find the rainbows distracting)

Anyway, question for you lens experts, the 150 looks a bit soft to me, I've focussed it as best I can, including the electrostatic pots, but even the test grid didn't look pin sharp.

It has Delta TAC 3 lenses - are these the plastic ones ?

Is it possible / worthwhile upgrading the lenses on this "starter" proj ?

    best regards,

    Paul.

Yes it's possible but the cost for better lenses would be better spent buying a new PJ.

I'm with Gordon, the 150 will improve in sharpness with hybrid lenses like HD6 or HD145 but I think it will just show up other shortfalls in the PJ.

I've got a set of HD6 lenses where one of the outer rings is cracked bit optically are perfect they may be the answer.

    Hi Gordon,

Thanks for that, yes I suspected as much.

    Hi Roland,

I would be interested to try the HD6 lenses, thanks. I'll drop you a PM.

    Best regards,

    Paul.
