hi guys

not sure if this is to do with my toshiba 42wp16 or my arcam dv88+

on my plasma the settings for pal and ntsc can have different picture settings? or used to be

i have been trying out today new picture settings when i notices on pal i can adjust the tint? never have been abled to do this before and the manual states you cant,

before it use to be grayed out on pal disks so you could not adjust it.

thinking this was weird i treid setting pal picture settings and ntsc to different settings ie +10 contrast for pal then put a ntsc disk in and change that picture setting(follow me)

but they are both same as each other , i adjust one it affects the other.:( :( :( :( :(

i have recently upgraded the firm ware on my arcam dv88+ to 4.18

it is selected as auto so is putting out 525p for ntsc and 625p for pal.

i have auto selected as tv type?

any help would be great as i`m stumped.

anyone with a toshiba/panny 4 series could try thers for me with pal disk and see if tint is adjustable?

Hi jmack,

I presume that you've got the DVD hooked up via the component inputs on your display? I just connected my DVD player straight into the display panel via component and it gives me the 'tint' control on both PAL and NTSC, although my Sony player isn't supposed to do PAL prog, the info box on the display tells me it is(!?).

Switching the DVD player to interlaced and the display still lets me have tint control on PAL and NTSC. The display confirms its receiving interlaced signals.

I know this doesn't help really. Maybe you've gone mad? Like the time I got it in my head that Sky News used to broadcast a 24hr clock and they had changed it!

I just made a few changes to the picture settings and switched between PAL & NTSC discs and it didn't 'hang onto' those settings separately for the two formats, it just stayed on what it was set to. I had also thought that these diplays stored different parameters for PAL/NTSC sources, and the ISF guys go on about having to calibrate separately for each source too.

I'm thinking of having a new hat made. Perhaps a cone, with a large 'D' on it. I can't help feeling like we're missing something here...

can i have hat too?

or was it i use to set normal for pal and dynamic for ntsc?

would be good if in the advanced menu you could change the names of these imputs......

i have some comfort not being the only nutcase here:D :D :D

I've set 'Normal' for evening/low light viewing and 'Dynamic' for daytime viewing. There's quite a big difference between the way I have them both set up.
