Downloaded this the other day and I have to say that they are well worth it. Dont be put off if you didnt like them on BF3. Caspian Border goes from being a poor map on BF3 (to big for player count) to an epic map with lots of new bits and pieces.
Gulf (long term fav of mine) is also how its meant to be although the sand storm does annoy me a bit.

    Metro is metro though! LOL

Much more fun that China Rising although I do like Altai.

I like a couple of the China rising maps and I like a couple of the Second assault maps. I reckon when we get our own AVF server we'll have a couple from both running in the map rotation. Like you I like Caspian and Oman. Would've much preferred Bazar and Kharg Island to Metro and Firestorm though.

My favourite map of BF4 has to be Zavod 311 though. Good infantry map and there's enough bumps and rocks etc. that make it so the vehicles can't dominate. Really didn't like Dawnbreaker to start with, but since getting the new TV I have to say it's a lot better. Not as dark, I can actually see where the enemy is now  Can't say there's any of the new maps that I groan at when they come on. Locker would be the closest I guess, but I don't mind a bit of carnage on it from time to time.

Caspian is the best map in the entire game now IMO, for conquest at least.

Guilin peaks on CR is also a very, very good map.

Generally I think with 64 players most maps work because there is always plenty going on.

Metro has never been something I've enjoyed particularly nor locker (though I prefer it to metro).

I also think Silk road is terrible if you can't get a vehicle as it is just way too open for infantry. No cover at all.

Played metro last night. It was er carnage as you would expect. Great for a blast for a bit but there is only so much reviving a man can do. Love the lifts at B though. Makes it much more interesting when the lift doors pop open and loads of enemy spill out.

Metro and Locker and too small for 64 players, it just turns into a "nad" throwing competition, coupled with LVG 320's, C4, smoke, flash bangs..........you can't see jack for the screen shaking !!!

Fav map at the mo has to be Zavod, Like Kirksi said, it's not dominated by vehicles yet there are plenty of them, great flanking opportunities with the rocks and forestry.
Still love Gulf, but the sand storm is a PITA.

Can't wait for rent a server so we can choose the best maps from each pack, getting a little bored of playing the same rotation of maps depending on which server you select.

Has there been any conformation of rent a server yet ?

While I enioyed unlocking the GOL Magnum from one of the SA maps, I am enjoying the JNG-90 much more. Other then that, I can't wait to use the F2000 and M60 a bit more in the future.

With the M60 being my favourite out of the two for one key reason, I enjoyed the iron sights in BF3 due to everyone else not liking that weapons feature.

M60 was nerfed in bf3 after initial release. Preferred the m249 in bf3. Iron sites are treat though.

Lol yeah. Its one of my least favourites for sure. Its ok (its no Metro!) but I find it a little hard to see whats going on. A fine that a bit with BF4 anyway. Upiing the power = upping the detail = makes things harder to see.

Zavod is genuinely one of the best MP maps I've played on any FPS and my career goes back to Delta Force on a Pentium II PC.

Stop it boozy, or this is going to have to get physical. ;)

Zavod makes the 'Winterfell' map in cod ghosts look good.

I'm afraid I'm with Boozy on this one I'm afraid. It's a great map and it's also helped by the fact that I always seem to do well on it. It's got something for everyone on it somewhere. If you like close quarters combat you can patrol around the C & D flags and get shot to sh*t. Personally I tend to stay away from that and do the A to B run or the E to F one.

It's worth it for Caspian and Oman. Firestorm's OK, better than it was on BF3 as it's less linear, but as infantry you tend to get murdered by tanks. The less said about Metro the better though. When the rent-a-servers come out I reckon Caspian and Oman will be on a lot of rotations as they're decent and possibly Guilan Peaks from China Rising. The other China Rising maps are OK but they're all a bit too open for my liking. Silk road you just get murdered if you're not in a vehicle, Altai Range is OK but again if you miss a vehicle you've got a long trek between flags. Bits of Dragons Pass are OK but again there are open sections where you get slaughtered if you try and cross the river.

Cheers for the info, Kirksi. I was hoping to queue a download remotely via xbox.com, and get the wife to turn on the xbox when she gets in from work, but I can't see anywhere to purchase it. I assume its only available from in-game?

Must admit I really like both Altai & Peaks from China Rising, and both are deserving of a place on any future AV server. Silk road is...erm...different (in a fun way), but Dragon Pass is just waaaay too big (lots of fast ground vehicles to compensate, but it still takes an age to get anywhere).

Metro was OK tonight: I have a love hate thing with it. It's not really tactical and why I like Battlefield though (short lives, run and gun). But the war of attrition with the front line slowly edgin forward over the map was interesting and seeing how people breached - mainly just pegging it and hoping for the best. And as always, better with a squad: cheers Red Kobra, Kirksi and Stella.

Oof. Just tried metro on second assault. Why did they think it would be a good idea to have 64 player conquest on this? Why couldn't they open up the whole map? My head hurts from the non stop grenades! Firestorm was ok though. Hopefully try the other two maps tonight.

The other two are the best, but yes, I groan every time Metro comes around. Mind you, we managed to turn it around last night starting from the tunnels. First time I've seen anyone make it upstairs and manage to hold it  Stella and I had a pretty good run in a tank on Firestorm. Spawned in it at the beginning and was still in it come the end of the round :D

Surviving a whole round in the same tank is quite an impressive feat.

But lets face it, its nowhere near as much fun as slamming a jeep into a rock at full speed 10 seconds after getting into it, and wiping out both you & your passenger (sorry Steve!).

Got second assault a couple of nights ago and am really liking it... all the talk about "its just rehashed bf3 maps" may be true but I think they are really good.

Enjoy Metro as it si just a chaotic free for all... started using the lifts last night.. if you havent done that yet give it a go, brilliant... I did get hammered every time the lift opened but a grenade and an automatic weapon meant I took a few of the other team with me.

also like Firestorm and the other maps (at least not been on a map that annoys me as much as Flood Zone does)

Just in case anyone is interested I purchased the premium pack using Microsoft Store gift cards.
The Xbox live gift cards are kicking around with a couple of pound off but the Microsoft store ones seem be had even cheaper.

Managed to get 2 £25 cards for £32 on ebay over the weekend... bought Premium and still have a £10 left in my account...so cost me £22 in my eyes :)

I have bought a few of these now and never had an issue redeeming them against my account.... for some reason I originally thought you could only use Xbox Live cards to buy... but no :)

Anyway, hope that helps someone out.

    cheers

    Gaz

Operation Metro really isn't balanced, but one way to balance it is by delaying the Russian starting spawn time by about 10 seconds. Because 90% of the time the Russian's will lock B flag down at the start.

And then for the rest of the game, it is pretty much impossible to take it back as the US team.

Thanks for the tip. With an MS card and a cheap Live Points I found (right time, right place!) I got £45 of points for £30. But do I spend it on Premium is the question. Still unhappy with the game's issues (on 360) and sworn to not give them more money until it's fixed. Six updates later...
