Just found this out. The brand new season 8 of stargate sg1 comes to sky on october 5
about time too - something decent to watch
My gripe with season 8 of Stargate SG-1 is that it should really be called Cheyenne Mountain Air Force 1.
At least with Stargate Atlantis the people go through the bloody gate. After 8 episodes on each one, I think Atlantis is better than SG-1. Perhaps in the next few episodes SG-1 will actually start using the damn gate.
I dont know, even though they havent gone through the gate much this Season they have still had some good episodes, I thought the one with teal'c stuck in the game and the last episode with the guy trying to expose the exsistance of aliens were really good.
Yes, the last episode with the billionaire guy was the best so far. The game one was stupid.
Have I missed something. As a massive SG1 fan, I have been looking forward to its return on Sky, and also Atlantis too. It seems you guys have already seen these shows, how is that possible, I cant find them anywhere on UK TV.
Rahl is American
And its available for dodgy downloads
Dare I ask how you get the "dodgy downloads" I have broadband.
Or is that a taboo subject?
Any hint will do? (is it a Kazaar kind of thing)
Pretty sure you are not aload to mention sites on here but I will PM you with the address from where I get episodes of SG-1 and Atlantis.
New stargate sg1 tonight 8pm sky one. Episode title "New order part one"
Damn missed it - is it being repeated soon??
6/10 at 8pm on Mix
9/10 at 9pm on Sky1
10/10 at 8pm on Mix
Don't forget Atlantis premiering on SKY1 next Tuesday
at 9pm either
Hopefully Sky One will overtake the Sci Fi channel in latest episodes .
Seen all the latest episodes broadcasted in America .
Episode 10 of Atlantis is a 2 parter, the Genais , I hate it when Sci Fi stop showing the latest episodes of Stargate till next year.
Anyhoo, just a quick question. Did anyone think the picture on Sky One for last night's SG was a bit soft? Usually the more recent the episode the sharper the picture. Last night it was like looking at an episode that had been broadcast a dozen or so times.
I didn't think it was my display as programmes afterwards were well up to par.
Its their own fault really, they catch up too quick so I imagine they had to stop showing them as further episodes werent completed but I have to admit I dont mind, with the wait it will just be even better when it returns.
Does it really matter who gets it first? I mean, as long as you get it... Shaun of the Dead opened here only about a week ago, and I wasn't bothered one bit.
I don't think this year will be the same. SciFi ordered only 20 episodes, not 22 as usual.
BTW, Atlantis is even more stunning in HD
Hey folks, I have only seen up to season 6 of SG1 so far, plowing through the dvd's as fast as i can.
Willl not seeing the last couple of SG1 seasons affect watching SG:Atlantis.
Or is it like Star Trek , I watched DS9 without ever seeing TNG and it didn't affect the watching exp any?
I have no idea if that question made any sense, was up till 5 this morning playing 40K dawn of war and i'm
Only the premiere episode of Atlantis would seriously impact on the latter SG1 seasons/episodes, it has to be said that season 7 is for the most part used to build upto the spin off series and includes one or two episodes that really make sense after the fact.
If you are watching s6 and then s7 on DVD I would consider recording the new s8 SG1 and Atlantis, make a damn fins xmas viewing bonanza
I suspect as time goes on it'll matter more to the US scifi channel that potential viewers are aquiring new episodes before they are broadcast although as you say the shorter run for season 8 might remove the lead SKY1 usually gets near the end of the run.
I have a nasty feeling though that BSG when premiered on SKY1 will make the suits sit up and take notice, I expect the viewing figures for the show stateside will not meet expectations and the finger will point to file sharing etc.
Atlantis in HD, totally agree
Good Call, managed to catch the first ep of series 8 on Sky1 tonight. I put it on RAM so, with editing out the adverts, I can get 5 eps per side on each ram disk (I knew that partial edit thing would come in handy at some point).
10 eps a disc, I got two disks so that should take me up to first week of December by which time I should have watched series 7.
My recorder gonna be working overtime, haven't recordered anything for 3 months. Now I got SG1, Atlantis and BattleStar Galatica starting next week.
Just realised i got no -r disks left to put BSG on.
I think that we are now four episodes into the new series of Stargate and whilst I have always been surprised that they have managed to maintain reasonable standards for so long I am afraid that this series is proving to be one too many for me.
They have spoiled a good cast by getting rid of someone that acted like what we imagine a General to act like and promoting someone who as a colonel was already over promoted and who plays the unit commander in the style of Groucho Marx.
Naturally the blonde bubbly bit has to be promoted to Colonel to make sure that everyone gets a pay rise whilst Teal'C who isn't military and therefore can't be promoted grows hair instead.
It seems to have become a parody of itself and I will give it one one more week and if it doesn't improve I will cancel my season pass and catch up on the hundreds of episodes of Live at Jongleurs on Tivo instead as the comedy in that is better.
I have seen the first 10 episodes of Season 8 and there are still some good episodes yet to come but there are also some not so good episodes, I would keep watching though.
I have watched all 10 episodes of SG1 season 8, and Atlantis
Atlantis is far better IMHO. The new Enterprise is also good, and battlestar galactica.
I tend to download them purely cos the americans can record them from Hidef
and the downloaded picture is usually far better than the sky broadcasts.
