Seagate Goflex Cinema - Anyone have one?

I have a Seagate HD Media player and was thinking of upgrading to a Goflex Cinema. But I can't get any detailed information about it. What's the software like? Is it better than the HD Media Player? Is the menu layout different? etc.

Does anyone have one and have any opinions or screenshots of the menus?

The things I don't like about the HD Media Player are:
  1. No support for 24fps or HD audio
  2. Doesn't adjust output resolution to match the source automatically (eg. 576p when playing PAL video)

A local shop is selling the 1tb version for €99.

The GoFlex Cinema is their newest player, there isn't much info out there about it but it is a different chipset as the GoFlexTV is a Realtek box with Real video & DTS audio support but these media type are missing on the supported list of the GoFlex Cinema.

It is probably using some cheap chipset like the Western Digital Elements series, the Cinema is not worth buying really the GoFlexTV is a better player of the two.

Thanks. I went ahead and bought a 2tb cinema from the local shop (as it was on offer and I had a buyer for my goflex TV) and it was a big mistake. The goflex cinema is awful. The menus are better and it has huge storage built in, but as you said it lacks DTS support (I didn't realise this until after I bought it). It seems to output DD5.1 as 2.0 (thru HDMI) too. The TV is a much better box.

AVOID!

I have just bought a 2tb GoFlex box..........

Is there a way to kepp permanent connection via usb to a pc and also hdmi to tv/amp?

When I try and drop some files to the drive whilst viewing a file it says "stopping media playback"

Do I really have to plug/unplug each device whilst using the other?

USB slave mode required for transferring files to & from PC does generally not allow other activity so no I dont think you can work around this.

You really should be looking at a player which can activate a network file server on internal or external (usb) drives if wanting to transfer media easily.

Hi

If you change the hdmi output to hdmi raw on the goflex cinema it plays DTS via hdmi - no need for optical.

Having the same problem with the DTS through a HDMI lead for weeks now. I've came across this solution before, but upon going to digital output settings 'HDMI raw' is not selectable. Any ideas why? This audio ******** is killing me.
