SD is an expansion of the SD card format to allow input/output operations.

For example, you can get WiFi SD cards, to add WiFi capability to any phones or devices that support it. There are probably lots of other things that you could add on as well.

Thanks but can you expand on this. These PDA's I am looking at say they have bluetooth but not Wi-Fi. So are you saying that I would need a specific card as extra in order to activate bluetooth capability?

if your PDA has no wireless functionality, you can get an SDIO wireless card (if supported) and use wireless hotspots in cafes etc to browse the tinterweb for free in some places. a LOT cheaper than GPRS.

Bluetooth is built into the PDA. So it will connect to phones, headsets etc wirelessly. You would not need anything extra to activate Bluetooth. Just find the button on the screen and it should be menu driven from there.

SDIO is to add even more connectivity, for example Wifi which is Wireless Broadband Internet, or an FM tuner to allow you to listen to FM radio stations on your PDA or just a plain and simple SD storage card, these run from 64 Mb (not worth bothering with) right up to 4 Gb (take out a bank loan for that card)
