I have asked Elliot over on the other forum and he said it should be possible but as he has not seen the inside of a 3910 yet he can't say for sure.

You are at least the third person now who is interested so perhaps if we all ask Elliot he might look into it...he is going to be moddin' my Sky+ box as soon as his next batch of boards is in.

Also Henry @ CRT Projectors (http://www.crtprojectors.co.uk/sdi_dvd.htm) is listing the 3910 for sale pre-modded with the PMS SDI kit.

    Cheers, Lee

On the 3910 what would be the benefit of having SDI over its standard HDMI output ? I mean for all that extra dosh would you really notice a material difference ?

The HDMI ouput of the Denon unit is limited to 480p and above signals and is obviously copy protected so requires a display device that is HDCP compliant at other end.

The SDI signal is not copyprotected and is 480/576 interlaced. This means an external video processor may be used to do, hopefully, superior processing of the video signal and output it digitally to any display device with DVI or HDMI sockets.

yeah thats it, i can then use an external scaler for all my kit, rather then sending it through the amp and get improved processing for everything not just the dvd player.

From what ive read most have seen real good gains in pic performance from there dvd player with SDI. some not so much but then the rest off there kit has improved no end.
As i mostley use my PJ for viewing its the right choice for me

If you look here: SDI Mods

You will see info on our SDI mod service. There is unfortunately a delay at present on the boards (explained in the thread).

I will also be looking into the 3910 in more detail, but at present we are extremely busy on other bits...... of course if anyone wants to donate a guinea pig LOL. It would be good to have a list of people interested in this mod for the 3910. Please can you register interest on the other thread.

    Thanks

Are there some other features in the 3910 that you particularly need, as I think I'm right in saying, you'll get the same pic performance boost from even a budget player that can be SDI modded?

If the 3910 can be modded maybe the budget 1910 can be too?

    neil.
