    Hey everyone,
I was wondering whether there were any decent sources in the UK for SDI mods for the Digiboxes.. I did a search here and it looks like everyone is trying to mod the sky+ boxes rather than the old Digiboxes.

This place : http://www.vydeo.com has a couple of really great looking products : DVD2SDI , Liquid SDI and DVIsland - for moding the Digibox and doing a SDI to DVI too..

Has anyone had any experience or played around in this area? ..

btw, I did e-mail them, and they told me that their offices were closed until Monday as they were under 8 foot of snow!

    Cheers

There was a company mod-ing original Sky boxes to SDI ISTR. They were doing so for use with the BBC R&D/Delphi plasma that had a very good quality display with an SDI input. (The plasma input circuits developed with the BBC converted from SDI 625/50i interlaced to the progressive plasma native display format entirely in the digital domain. I believe the system also ran with a higher number of greyscale sub-field/frames than most - so relied less on dithering)

Sadly I can't for the life of me remember the company's name. However any dealers selling the BBC/Delphi plasma may be able to help - as modded SDI Sky boxes and SDI DVD were the only real consumer sources to feed the SDI input.

(Might be worth posting on the UK TECH BROADCAST and UK TECH DIGITAL-TV news groups as quite a number of BBC R&D types lurk there - and they may be able to advise)

The Vydeo product works great. We have a Denon unit. They have installers in Europe, Germany anyway, I don't think there's one in the UK yet.
