Just got my Toshiba SD220E (Multi-Region) for £129.99+Free Delivery). With that I got a redemption coupon to order 3 free DVD's (OK.. not the best titles and you have to send £3 to cover P&P).

Firmware version is 1.5 - R2
Have tested R1-Matrix, R1-Final Fantasy, R1-Dinasurs, R2-Knights Tale... All work OK.

Superb picture definately a bargain at that price.

oh yeah...nearly forgot..
got it from http://www.bedirect.co.uk

The discussions in that section only seem to talk about DVD titles and not Hardware Offers + description for that section reads: 'If you have found a great deal on DVD titles'

So I thought it would be more appropriate here as people are always asking... 'Where is the best place to buy ... ...' etc.

Just trying to help.

It says on the site that the player will not play RCE encoded discs.

Is there a tweak to get round this ?

If so, I will buy one.

Thanks for all or any help

The Region 1 copy of Final Fantasy was RCE encoded:

I reckon the information on the bedirect site has not been updated and is still referring to possible problems with the older firmware versions. I got firmware v1.5 on the players I received from them and this seems to play RCE fine.

Has anyone else bought this unit from 'Bedirect' and is it firmware 1.5 as well. I am concern that I will get a unit with 1.3 or 1.4 firmware and having to go through the hassle of changing it.

Thanks in advance
