As people probably know I am still in the process of moving house etc etc and last night came the turn of the MALM bed that I used to have at my flat. This was dis-assembled (is that the right word?) and transported to a storage space and then finally delivered to the new house yesterday afternoon.

So last night I re-assembled it, without instructions etc and whilst trying to remember where everything went I managed to get it all together, sturdy and useable.

Then I found a total of 8 screws which were in the bag marked 'bed bits' but I couldn't see where they went

So, the bed is together, seems to be ok and is 8 screws short.

Things could get interesting........'Did the earth move for you sweetheart?' :rotfl:

even if you'd read the instructions, the result would have surely been the same..? Or is that just the Ikea near me? :D

I cannot remember the last time an IKEA item I purchased actually had all the bits. If you have lots of stuff to build- I'd open a screwfix account to order the other bits.

To be fair to them, I have never had any problems with IKEA and their products, and, I like them (generally)

I was quite proud of the fact that I got this bed back together but to then be left with 8 screws is somewhat  Especially as it seems as stable as it was originally!

They're called wee screws Steve, just chuck em over your shoulder and forget about them
You were probably paranoid when you built the bed originally and added more fixings.

I think "wee screws" are best avoided in beds ;)

    Steve,

If you send me a PM with your address or email address i can do you a copy of the MALM instructions as the wife and i bought one for our new place and i still have them.

I have never had any problems with missing hardware from Ikea - their biggest problem to me seems to be that they don't explain that what you have bought isn't necessarily everything you need!

Take this bed - they don't mention in the store or brochure anywhere that you need the extra midbeam to complete it (which isn't supplied), nor do they tell you it doesn't come with slats to support the mattress.

Maybe fairly minor points, but not when your nearest Ikea is 80 miles away...........

Thanks for that, but i'm quite happy with it without the 8 screws. Knowing IKEA manuals anyway, I wouldn't be able to identify which the 8 screws were
