    Hi all

Im going to get my 300xtra updated soon to the 300E spec and im looking for an electric screen in the 16:9 format with a DIAG of 110" or there abouts.
PJ will be 18ft from screen (approx).

I would like a screen that can handle some ambient light, so will probaly need some gain (how much??).
Current match is the new Vutes silverstar retractable but cant get a UK price as of yet.
also like the look off the OWL grand cinema screen with tab tension and 1.2 gain.
Any other screen that might match that anyone can think off?
Price can be highish or low as long as the quality is there.

Realy need some help as after a few hours on the net im well

Note that having spoken to Alan from SIM2 at the Bristol show, he states that SIM2 recommend either unity gain or 1.3.

    Cap :)

    Gandley,

I can't fault my electic tab tensioned Ellie. (www.ellie.co.uk). I have a Sim2 myself and was aware of the 1.3gain recommendation from those with vast experience of Sim2 pj's. Unable to find an exact match to this at the time, for the price I wanted to pay, I opted for a close matching Ellie model. This was a 16:9, tab tensioned, 1.2gain example. I think Ellie and Owl screens are manufactured in Italy by the same company and then rebadged and resold over here.

Anyway I have had it over a year and it has perfomed without fault and gives a truely magnificent picture. No creases or marks. Whole hearted recommendation.

    Regards,
    Steve.

Thanks for the info, will add it to my research.
Think the greyhawk may be a little overpriced from what i have seen.
Firehawk might be a better choice but still a little bit costly

    Hi,

    Da-lite Cinema-vision, 1.3 gain 45 degree viewing angle.

This would be my choice with that unit, if ambient lighting is controlled.

I was about to say the same thing. That's what I'm using with my Domino 20 and the pic is great. I think you'll find Sim2 will recommend them too!

I think they do a 110" diagonal 16:9 but check www.da-lite.com . As far as ordering goes I'd start with an email to Sim2 (or pm to Ad Roser). I don't know if they supply complete screens but they're sorting out replacement screen material for my D-Lite screen at a VERY good price. If you have no luck there then try www.audiovisual.co.uk. When considering replacing my entire screen I think they were offering the best quote.

If you do go for Cinemavision material then be shure to follow the cleaning instructions if you need to clean it. I found out the hard way that you need to be super carefull and it cost me big time!!

I got a sample of the CV because I wanted a screen with slight gain to minimize the room reflections, but I found the sparklies and the champaigne/yellow tint it gave to be too distracting. And weirdly enough I didn´t think it was any brighter than my white screen!

I really want samples of the firehawk, greyhawk RS, studiotek130 and the draper screens. But my emails to steward and draper haven´t gotten any replies. Anyone know where to get samples of those screens?
