    Hi everyone,

does anybody have any suggestions for hiding a 2m wide fixed screen when its not in use? Don't really fancy going down the curtains/blinds/film posters route, some sort of large landscapey print would be ideal and wife approved - over to you!

    cheers, Stu

You could hinge a large picture at the ceiling and haul it up to the ceiling when you wanted to view the screen, but that may be worse than just having a fixed screen on view.

yes, I had a similar thought but I just don't know where to get hold of a big enough picture - s'pose I could use two though.

ive had a few beers (sunny is shinning and its lovely) but i fi remember will post a pic.

I got a screen which i can take down. Its the Draper Luma, ica n be wall mounted or suspended. I went for the suspended option. Me dad got me some stainless steel wire from work though im sure u could get this in a hardware shop. And fixed some fittings to the celing joists. Bent the wire and i can leave or take the screen away. Does that make sense?

just took a foto excuse the shake :(

    anyway

http://web.mcsparron.co.uk/screen.jpg dont laff at the holes i used me dremel to guess were the joists were lmfoa  and yes me screen protrudes through me arch way

YOu can see the back of the screen that usually gets mounted to the wall. But the screen i bought can be suspended. Why i bought that one really. Anyway i bought the loop things from doitall for about 3 quid and fixed them to the joists and tbh its blooming great. Its up most of the time TBH all the time bar when when we invite peeps round. I have still to paint the loop things but peeps never see em :)

Here's something I've never seen done but I reckon would be quite worthy.

Hide the screen behind a picture as Regmarch suggests but paint the back of the picture frame black so it improves the image by absorbing the light that normally gets reflected from the ceiling.

In their 2006 catalogue; Ikea have a new canvas over aluminium frame picture that is 200x140cm called PREMIAR. I'll be giving it the once over next time I'm up there as a basis for a fixed screen. It's a few pence short of £100 but thats a fraction of a decent ally framed screen.
