My initial thread; Women in Sci-Fi became a little generalised and dilluted. SO:
IF any girls happen to see this and would share with us two Science-Fiction films they loved, and why they loved them it would please me greatly.

No sir. There is nothing sexual in my interest in this subject. In fact, I'm unsure why you would even ask that question. :nono:
I'm afraid my interests know no bounds, and I would like the opinions of women who have the opportunity to think and answer at their leisure.
Could you tell me what you find irritating or inappropriate about my post?

Is there really any need to be so obtuse/rude to a new user to the forum, all you had to say was you thought UkDrakens first thread was sufficient & would suffice on the subject & that one of the general rules of the forum is not to double post a thread !!

Yes indeed he can be when he remembers to laugh :rotfl: but i don't think our new poster is that aware of his skills or even perceived it as such :)

You guys have now made this thread a little generalised and diluted as well!
I think we need a third thread :p;)

I'm looking forward to the fourth and fifth threads on the girly viewpoint. Clearly women/sorry girls don't get sci-fi. I'm wondering how their feeble brains can cope with it.

To all of the above, with the possible exception of our piano player", Captain, I rarely take offense at a comment as.... minimal as yours. I'm sure I'll learn when you mean your posts to be humorous and when not. And to Killing Time; Thank you for both your defence and your advice in rebuke.
\\Having said that, if you wish me to terminate this thread, then so be it.
It seems to have upset the men before any women have had a chance to post!

Post away as much as you want. You'll get loads of reponses from the males here but very few from the females I suspect. Maybe they don't want to please you greatly.

I visited this thread on the off-chance I could meet some sci-fi-loving women who might want to date me. I assumed that was the reason the OP started it too :).

Out in the world, they seem to be a rare breed.

You should have gone to the Dr Who 50th event at Excel. On the day I was there I'd say there were quite a lot more women than men.

All of my posts are humorous or tongue in cheek but mostly sarcastic, admittedly the worst form of humour. I’m beginning to admire your tenacity, the effort you’ve put into keeping two threads, on the same topic, in the air. I don’t know why but I have a vision of someone standing outside a specialist sci-fi store, spinning plates in an attempt to attract the ladies. I fear you may be flogging a dead horse, but thanks for this most amusing thread.

I might as well weigh in as well on behalf of my wife ;)

She loves Robocop and Serenity as two examples and loves plenty more. Not a fan of the Star Wars films but that's understandable as she wasn't born when they came out and looking back at them I can see how people think they're a little cheesy and silly :)

My wife is 10 years younger than me and didn't know anything about Doctor Who. It was only when Christopher Eccleston came along did she start to understand who Tom Baker is. Is she a keeper or should I divorce? Will I find another young wife or should I just put up with my lot. She did enjoy some of the new BSG, but hated the original - I'm torn emotionally.

It's not the end of the world hating the original. I loved it as a kid but it hasn't aged well.

Doctor Who doesn't count as sci-fi, it counts as rubbish (unless you're talking about pre-90s Doctor Who which is awesome) :)

I'd say if a woman liked the current "new" Doctor Who then that doesn't count at all - that's similar to her liking Eastenders or TOWIE. However, if she likes Firefly... ;)

That's alright, as long as she liked Buck Rogers:p
Don't divorce her, but tell her she's on notice to keep her on her toes :D

Yep, pre 1994 Red Dwarf was brilliant:thumbsup:

is that a female in the background second from the right? I know this is a long shot but if it is a woman do you have her number? Because UKDraken would really like to hear her story.
