Is there a version out that isn't a flipper?

As far as I know, the only one which is a flipper is the R1. The R2 and R4 are both 2 discs.

But does the 2-disc versions actually have the entire film on 1 disc? Or do you still have to change the disc in the middle of the middle (which of course is the same as having a flipper really).

It won't fit on one DVD9 disc, that's why there are either 2 DVD9 discs or a DVD18 filpper.

The movie runs for 197 mins. It also has a DD5.1 and DTS soundtrack. If it were compressed onto one side, there would be visible digital artifacts.

Especially noticeable as it is a B&W movie with dark sequences with large expanses of black shadow that would be especially prone to digital nasties.

Hence only a flipper or split on two discs.
