Yeah, pretty much this. Too harrowing to watch again and again as I do with many of my favourite discs, so it's difficult to justify in my collection, even with such an apparently stellar transfer.

Can only echo the sentiments of the last two posts this is the problem I have with making the jump to 4k I have many Blu-rays but i can't see myself replacing my favourite blu-ray for 4k well maybe 5/10% of them taking into account the cost of a new TV and player

A favourite of the Labour Party, allegedly.
Ralph Fiennes is superb in this and deserved an Oscar but, of course, owing to its nature never won.

Nice review, I have the Blu and have only watched it twice as mentioned above by others, but may dip again as the cinematography was stunning.

Need to watch this film again. It is brilliant and should really be essential viewing for schools? Am I right in thinking Mr Speilberg put all his earnings from it into his foundation? Empire Magazine did a retrospective and mentioned one of the producers saying to Neeson at the time of filming outside Auschwitz "I was in that hut when I was 5 years old" which kind of brings it home.
Whilst not wishing to treat it as conventional "tourism" we are planning a visit to Krakow in summer and hope to visit Schindlers factory and Auschwitz, unsure just how upsetting it will be but again something one feels has to be experienced.

The BBC did a documentary about him in black and white before he died, it started off leaving Germany as a retired businessman (nothing special) and being greeted at the airport in Israel by the President or Prime Minister. I wish it had been on the disc as an extra, it was so good.

You will like Krakow it is a stunning place to visit .... I have done Schindlers & Auschwitz and the latter will leave you feeling very very upset mate be warned and take the full guided tour with the headset when you go.
I have also been to the actual filming location for the movie in Krakow and some of the sets are still there.
Here are a couple of photo's of the famous steps and location of the general's house.
The one with the giant cross is the exact location in the film where all the bodies were piled up and burned very grim place.

      It's a 10 if ever there was a film deserved a 10.

Was stationed in Germany and visited a few places associated with the Nazis and some of them have a very off putting atmosphere around them.

Parts of Belsen are freezing on bright hot summer days and it's not a place you really feel comfortable just walking around.

This is currently only a fiver on iTunes, I might jump on that. Even though I've seen it once and not really in a hurry to do it again.

Watched it last night, 4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, on my 65" AF8 OLED, stunning. I seriously can't imagine the disc being that much better.

"Told by Stephen Spielberg when at the top of his game, everything from the performances, to the script, to the stark black and white film stock make this film the masterpiece it is."

      9/10 o_O

How much more "masterpiece" does it need to get?

If I had to guess I'd say its because its just not a film most people are going to rewatch very often...if ever.

Isn't that because of the subject matter rather than the actual quality of the film? I don't think the re-watch value should be included when a score is awarded to a film's quality.

Well of course its because of the subject matter.

I don't think many people think..."Lets watch a film....I know, lets watch Schindler's List!" do they?! ;) I don't think re-watch value should be taken into account either but I suspect that's why its not a 10/10 score for the film.
