I am after peoples opinions on what is the scariest movie (available on R2, and common availability, on DVD.

I am not after jumpy scary, eg, jaws, ones that are not scary, but make you jump.

NOT slash em up scary, hellraiser, excorsist, etc.

I am after the scary ones that when playing through a DD system you hear things behind you, and after a few beers you dont want to be alone in a house! I love the slash em ups, scary ones, thinking ones(6th Sense). But i am looking for the ultimate , Oh dear, i have just become the worlds number 1 paranoid, type of film.

Help. Ps I would like to get one before the beginning of Oct as my parents are away, cur the loud films and scary ones!

I thought 'Stir Of Echoes' was pretty weird but i am not sure if it is out on R2 yet. 'The Haunting' is also meant to have the odd shock and the sound is very good i understand. I hope this may help you in your quest for brown pants!!!!

    'The house on Haunted Hill'

When I watched this at the cinema, I didn't find it scary. But I got it out on DVD the other night and watched it by myself at night. It was quite spooky then.

    Shame the ending was biz.

A recent scary one I've watched was Sixth Sense. I watched it in a dark empty Victorian house, where I'm sure people must have died in. I couldn't get to sleep straight after that one I can tell ya.

I agree with the Haunting (original version) It's a classic chiller that lets your imagination run riot!

    Definately agree with Hugh Grant.

For me The Shining and The Blair Witch Project are the scariest films ever made.

Since I became an adult, I can't remember being scared by a film. Then I've never seen a snuff film, that would scare/anger/ sicken me! I've never seen as many folks puke and pass out as during the original theatrical run of THE EXORCIST. C'mon, I don't care what they do next summer, it won't scare me....
