    Hi there,

Sorry for the confusing title, but I wasn't sure what else to call it! I am currently saving up for an xbox360, I think I have waited long enough for the really nice games to start coming out. However, I am unsure what to do in regards to me tv. The one I have now is fairly new, and has a SCART connection in the back. I am presuming that the 360 can have this connection, and I am more than aware that the HD connection would be far more superior, just wondering if anyone here had any experience of the 360 using SCART. Is there any websites with comparasions?

    Thanks for reading,

    Dave

My mate has his 360 connected via RGB scart on his old 28" CRT.

I have to admit, I was surprised at how good it looked. Miles, and miles away from HD quality, but still more than acceptable.

It depends on your budget and what size you're looking for. You can get 23"/26" HD LCD TV's for as little as £400 maybe even £350. Samsungs in particular are a good value. There is LG as well although I'm not that familiar with their quality.

There's loads... (plenty of good ones too). I've got a Mirai 32" LCD which cost me £430, but I think they sell for around £350 now....

I've got a similar problem too mate.....I have been patiently waiting for the 360 and I think now would be a really good time to "jump in".

The only problem is that I don't have an HDTV.....meh. Dunno what to do. I think scart will have to do for now.

I've been using a 10 year old 32" CRT telly using the scart connection with my 360 since launch day, and it still looks excellent. You will have no problem playing using scart. Saying that, I've just bought a 42" plasma, so I'm hoping the HD on that will blow my socks off! Just waiting for it to be delivered...

get your 360, get it hooked up, get online and enjoy the experience. i ran with sd/scart for a few months and it is only when you upgrade to HD you notice the difference..if you aint got it, you dont miss it:smashin:

If you do decide to go the scart route make sure you buy the Official MS RGB Scart Cable.

Sticking the yellow/white/red cables in the scart adapter that come with the console is not the same thing as proper RGB Scart.

thanks guys for all your help! Really clarified things for me. The plan is to buy a 360 in the next month, and then save up for a cheap HD telly over the next few months.

Another question however! I have read about the Elite 360. Is there any major advantages in buying this version over the original premium?

Thanks again for advice so far!

What's the point in saving, get a credit card with no interest on purchases, buy now then put the money you were planning to save in a high interest savings account whilst only making minimum payments on the card then pay off the card when the interest free period runs out.

I use my 360 on my 28" Sanyo CRT and it still looks very good. As has been said, if you haven't seen it on HD then you won't notice the difference! make sure you get a proper RGb lead though, worth it. I got one for £10 from play.com!
