    just out of interest....

as i'm relatively new to the av world, what would be the resulting picture quality if i connected my sky+ box to my sony kf42sx300u (42" rear projection lcd) with a "scart to VGA" lead...see below:

    http://www.keene.co.uk/cgi-bin/codesearch.pl?SGB12

would it be any better or worse than my current RGB "monster" scart lead?

Also does anyone know where i can get the avia setup disk?

    Thanks
    Lee

    Hi,

Did you try the "scart to VGA" as I had the same idea.

The scart to VGA lead should give a good picture, but it wont be better than a direct scart to scart lead. You can't get extra PQ with conversion, but if done badly you will loose PQ. The only way it will be better is if the scart input is poor on the screen.
In the past I had a scart to VGA converter from www.js-technology.com which is a more expensive converter but is the best available. The PQ was excellent but I can't compare it to a scart to scart connection as I don't have a scart input on my plasma.
In the past I have seen many posts on this forum from people that have had problems with the syncblaster cable and others that have been very pleased with it.

    Mark.

    Thanks Mark,

I won't bother and will stick with RGB scart.
