you can buy 0.5m scarts possibly even 0.3m scarts. CPC,RS etc sell the sockets/plugs and QED do some very nice cable.

ERm its in the Veda catalogue IIRC you may need to go through a VEDA dealer to buy it as it is really for the CI market not the consumer market!
PS hope your soldering is good I would never even attempt to solder a scart!

just an idea use your 1m scart assuming they are good quality and chop it in half, then apply a new scart end to each 0.5m cable and hey presto 2 cheap 0.5m scarts, with one original end and one new end

    Thanks for the hints/tips/links all.

Dominic - good idea, but they are only cheapo Comet ones for £9 each so not much good, although there's nothing wrong with the picture produced from them.

Keene have a Rear Entry/Flat cable ones which look pretty good, and suitable cable to. May go for them

    cheers

Gary, Good luck with this venture!! I have tried it before and the easiest way I found was to remove all the pins from the scart plug, solder and then re-insert them in their appropriate holes (oo-er!!). Patience is indeed a requirement ;)) Take your time and I'm sure you shall be rewarded with a great end product. With cheapo scarts available it may be worth your while a little practice.

    Cheers Steve

most companies will custom make you a lead as short as you want as long as you pay the normal rate for their listed options!
I haven't checked individually but try dealers for
    QED, Ixos(?), and VDH
