I see a lot of discussions about RGB scart here and there, but
i'm missing something as i thought scart was scart and thats
it but obviously not...didnt know there were differnt types...

Can someone explain them, and how do i know whats has what

I have a Samsung branded NTL box, and a Samsung DVD player
which will be hooked up to a 7-series Panny eventually, and at the
moment, I have a SCART switcher (a manual one...sorry) to wire
it all through...

Would a Panny scart board or the JS box be a better route??

You'll lose aspect ratio switching with the JS box, but get a better, sharper picture. That's your call. The scart board is not terrible at all, just not as pin sharp as a VGA box.
Scart itself is the form factor of the plug and socket, it can carry various signals. Audio, composite video, s-video and RGB, some are unidirectional, some bi, that's why you can switch between outputs in the menus of your sources. Tha scart board will work with almost any scart signal, but to make the JS box work, you must have previously set the devices to RGB, or you will get no picture, hence no menu, hence no picture.....

SCART isn't actually a signal type, it refers really to the type of connector. SCART can be wired to carrier various signals though with RGB being one of them.

someone with more knowledge will hopefully be along soon - HornyDragon, MAW etc - See what did I tell you
