Why do companys make everything audio/visual require scart connection? And then they only give us 3 sockets (if u r lucky) on the tele. It is driving me crazy. I have 2 scarts on my tv which are required to connect my DVD, Freeview, Xbox and PS2, my video has 1 scart that i use for my xbox and i connect my video via rf. This can't go on, when i get my DVD reccorder it will be another scart!

Tvs should have at least 4 scarts, i am sure a tv with 4 or more would be very popular. I know you can get fancy switches and stuff but really they are no match to a true scart with its own av channel.

    Something needs to be done

    I think Sony's KV-36HQ100 has 4 scart inputs.

Will you still need to keep your DVD player connected when you get your DVD recorder?

    My Sony has four

but only two are RGB and I have three devices which will accept RGB ,DVD player , sky+ and xbox .

however the xbox is connected to the pass through socket on the back of my sky+ as it does pass through RGB.

I therefore have one unsed socket, the other non rgb is connect to my amp (composite into scart) so I can view my system settings on the TV

Because, although not technically ideal, Scarts are reasonably foolproof in the hands of the general public due to their auto-switching facility.

Remember most people have trouble just setting their VCR timer!

I agree there should be more on a tv, but it's economics as usual.
