If I were to connect up both my ntl: and Freeview STBs to a Pioneer AX10Ai using these would it give the best output I can manage? I'm not keen on using svideo, I may as well just plug them directly into the TV. I have plenty of TV connectors so I would only be putting it through the amp to give more flexibility so I can effectively have more inputs into my DVD recorder.

    Hello Mattross

A 'Cable' alone wont do the trick!

Your SCART sources will be Outputting 4 core RGB and your AV Amplifier is capable of switching 3 core YUV - you need active conversion (JS Technology RGB2YUV converter) between source and Amp to make them compatible; which can get costly especially if its only a 'convenience' not a necessity in your system.

    Best regards

    Joe

OK looks like I won't be going that route then. Think I'll try hooking the STBs up via svideo to the AV amp and see if I notice a loss of quality.

I got a Keene electronics converter to go from Scart RGB (Sky+) to component inputs on my Amp (to feed my projector RGB). It's cheaper than the JS one (about 80 instead of 120). Still not 'cheap' though - but in my case, component was MUCH better than S-Vid.

Having said that, I do notice some conversion 'issues'. Green and pink tints under certain conditions. Something to do with the RGB scart not providing enough voltage? I don't know, but I put up with that rather than have S-Vid quality.

    Good luck!

Nah, I got exactly the same from a JS one borrowed from a mate. Think it's the source
