Can anyone recommend a chiller PS2 game, something with a dark atmosphere that will get the hairs on the back of my neck standing up when I turn the lights off and the surround sound does its job?

I bought Devil May Cry a while back, thinking it might be the one. A fine game, but too much full-on action to get scared. (Didn't take long to complete, either.)

Silent Hill 2 is supposed t o be quite "atmospheric". Nothing can compare though to Resi Evil on the GC....... SCARY!!!!!!

It is Resi Evil Codename Veronica and Nemesis, which IMO really weren't that scary.

Plus the graphics for the GC are extremely good and the sound effects amazing.

You could look at getting the original PS1 RE, although it may look a little dated now.

Okay, thanks. I won't be buying another console and I don't fancy getting a PS1 game, so I guess I'll have to wait until someone comes up with something.

If you've got access to broadband and fancy playing online then Resident Evil Online will be out by the Summer. Should be very good too :)

I have just sold RE on the GC without even touching the second disc. It had excellent grpahics but was so boring I had trouble staying awake. Got totally sick of all the backtracking to go and get objects. The backtracking may have been okay in the playstation days but with the new generation consoles there is no excuse and imho there are far more interesting games to be had.

I loved the RE series of games and bought the GC just to play the new ones but the franchise has had its day.

I haven't played The Thing, but if its anything like the movie then it should be good.

The new Aliens game was meant to be out months ago, but still not here. :(

Yep RE graphics on the gamecube are stunning and I finished the game, although the game-play does seem slightly dated, i love the RE series though and can't wait for RE0, the gameplay has been updated and changes made ie no item boxs you can drop items and come back later and pick them up, part of it is on a moving train (oh those lighting effects are going to be something) and the graphics are even better than the RE remake.

Personally i though RE 2 on the PSX was scarier than the first game.

Eternal Darkness (GC title... sorry) is damn scary as well, features what Groundy called the scariest moment in video gaming history.

Try the thing I've heard good things about it.

If you don't mind somewhat outdated graphics then check out the original Silent Hill for the PSone.

I pre-ordered Silent Hill 2 Platinum some time ago. It was delivered on Friday, I played it last night, and as everyone says...

    * IT SCARES THE BEJEEZUS OUT OF YOU *

Sorry didn't see your question last time

    Without spoiling it...'hair'

Thats all I will say. When you come to the puzzle involving hair I would be surprised if you didn't laugh.

Yes it is a very good game and certainly scary in places but I still think some of the puzzles were ridiculous

    Furry muff.

What effect does the "Puzzle" setting have on this game? I'm wondering if you set it high, would that make the puzzles more absorbing or would it simply give you more puzzles?

I played it at a friends house (I didn't have a ps2 then) and we only played through it once. I think we chose the default setting.

If you set it high I would expect it to give more puzzles but I'm not sure. Track down a guide on gamefaqs.com and see if you can find out on there. Unless anyone on here knows?
