    Am I correct in saying that a projector like the PT-AE100 will need to 'scale down' a PAL image therefore losing some image quality?

    That is true, however the loss in quality isn't very big. By using a HTPC (Home Theater PC) you will minimise the loss in quality even further due to the superior scaling-capabilities of PCs.

    With for example a SVGA-resolution projector the resolution of a 16:9-movie will be even lower, 800x405, and it still looks good and with no apparent detail-loss.
