Today i saw the hd 45 next to the sammy ,i switched both to the rugby on BBC1 (rf feed) and guess what ,,,,,,,,,
I personaly thought the segam looked a touch better, not a lot in it.
At the moment i have a crt tv and i have been looking to upgrade ,i plan on spending about 2k,I have decided on DLP ,the 2 i have it down to are the sammy and the sagem, the 45 i can buy now or i wait about 6months an get the sammy when the price comes down!!!
I have been reading the forums now for about 2months,so i know all the good and the bad points of both tv's,I must admit though i may be 1 of the lucky ones that doesnt seem to be bothered by seeing rainbows and the so called FROSTY screen on the HD45.

What some people see as a distracting so called 'frosty' screen others see as a good picture. It comes down to your preference. I understand that some people have had unfavourable experiences with the Sagem 45 but speaking for myself my overall impression is good and apart from a couple of niggles I am very happy.
It's a nice tele. As long as we are all happy, then life is geat!
davidsti - I'm in the same position, have my choice narrowed down to either the Sammy 50" or Sagem HD-D45. My budget was £2k, Sagem is £1995 from JL with 5 yr gaurentee (stand is another £300 but there is cheaper £79.95 alternative ) and Costco are selling the Sammys at £2232 so could just about stretch to buying either.
I have only seen the HD-D45 with HD demo and was extremely impressed with PQ, Didn't initially notice 'frosty' screen but the issues with the Sagem would most likely stand out after a week or two's ownership along with the recently highlighted bad PQ of faces issue. I love the looks of this set also.
I haven't seen the Sammy yet, although from pics of it I'm not fond of the looks at all, don't think it will really fit in with the look of our lounge but then again have to see it up close first. Would also be interested to know of the supposed issue with viewing 1280 x 720 through HTPC as will be possibly using this in the future? and if viewing angle of this set is worse than the Sagem?
I will only be using Sky, PS2 & DVD (plan on getting the Denon 500SD in a couple months too)
