probably down to region variation - looks like region 1 is DD only, region 2 is DTS

I am not sure why it is "upcoming" - it was out months ago (at the time of the 60th anniversary celebrations). Anyway, I have the region 1 version (in the fake ammo case) - no dts

Ahh. My mistake then. Must have been thinking about the uk release date, plus the fact that dvdsoon has it on order. Didn't really think it through. Still, for £7 that's cheap. Personally I think any difference between dts and DD is minimal. Not worth paying double for. I certainly haven't noticed a significant diffence in sound quality. Perhaps if you have a £5,000 surround sound system.

I think even DD fanboys like army bloke would admit the difference is worth getting DTS on this! double the price?

shop around rob ! Saving Private Ryan DTS has been going cheap for ages...

after a brief search you can pick up the two-disc DTS version of Saving Private Ryan from CD wow for £7.99 before vouchers, surely the DTS track is worth £1 extra...

    http://www8.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=6608&subcat=region2&affid=5550

Also I don't think you need £5,000 worth of home cinema surround-sound equipment to notice the difference, from reading these forums I think the more money you spend on your system the more impressive Dolby digital sounds... I think?

ok, cheers. I'll have a look on cd-wow. Thanks for putting in the time to have a look round. Was exagerating a bit with the £5k. Just I personally wouldn't pay double just for dts. Part of the reason that dts may sound more impressive is that they distort the .1 signal to have more impact before it's encoded. Bit like comparing 2 stereos where the bass has been turned up on one of them. Though I think that dts is a less compressed format compared to DD!?

If people still don't have the DTS version, it's in the HMV 3 for £20 sale.

:smashin: Got it, along with The Mission and Where Eagles Dare.

Sometimes....just sometimes HMV do some good offers and this is certainly one of them.

i was tempted to actually but see as how i have the DD version, i didnt really want to spring for a (more or less) barebones DTS version.. so i preordered the DTS 4 disc "ww2" version from play.com for twentysomething quid.

    All these different versions!

The best I have seen the R2 DTS 2 Disc 60th Anniversary, to be released on 01/11 is £14.99 on Play.
