    Guys,

This has probably been asked before, but why does an image seem washed out when you view in the save for web preview screen in comparison to what it looks like in a normal photoshop window!?

    THanks for your help!

    Hi

It depends what settings you have got the save to web tool set to.

There are a number of presets on the right hand side of the window - the tool defaults to a fairly aggressive 128 colour GIF I think if you don't change it.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean! I would never have a photo saved as a GIF! Its always a JPEG! But even 100% quality doesnt make any difference to colours!

Hmm, I wonder if the colour management profiles are disabled when you save for web. That's the only other thing I can think of which could explain the difference?

Mmm, I am not sure! Have you any idea how I would check to see if the colour management profiles are disabled or not?

I'm having a tinker at the moment - but to be honest, I can't see the symptom you are describing anyway which makes it a bit tricky...

What version of Photoshop are you using? I've got access to 7.0 and CS

Go to the Save For the Web Screen and you'll see a little triangle shaped arrow in the top right corner directly above the preview screen. Click on that and select Use Document Colour Profile.

You probably have it set to Uncompensated Colour which is the default IIRC
