SatNav/Range Rover Problem. Help Please!

A friend has just bought a 2002 (51 plate) Range Rover 4.0 litre Westminster.

The factory-fitted SatNav screen says “Subscription Expired”.

What does he need to do to re-activate it please?

It may sound obvious, and I don't mean to be sarcastic, but have you tried contacting a Land Rover dealer. My guess is that the subcription needs to be renewed, probably by Land Rover.

I called in to my nearest Land Rover main dealer today and they said that they had not come across this problem before!

I have just had a look at the RR in question.

The SatNav is CARiN II Land Rover Navigation.

When it is switched on in the cabin the light on the box in the boot does NOT light up and a message appears on the SatNav screen stating "Subscription Expired".

I have been told that my friend simply needs to buy a new disc off eBay. Is this correct and how would he know which disc to buy?
