Is there any link between the strength & quality of the Sky signal?

I have a signal strength of 85-90% but quality of only c20%. A friend has signal strength of around 50% yet his quality in c80%.

This question is linked to another thread where I asked about any problems with adding an extension cable (max 3mtrs) between the receiver & the Sky box - I may need to move the tele.

The quality is a measure of the decoder errors, so with 0% errors, you get 100% quality. If you've only got 20% quality, you have a problem - that's a lot of errors ! Probably a mis-aligned dish.

    Thanks

Is there an easy DIY way to check this, or should I pay for an engineer to visit?

As I live in an area of bad reception (can't get to the main transmitter so have to use a secondary one on reduced power) I wouldn't say no to better quality.
