The instuctions are a bit contradictory when they say it will work / won't work with a sky digibox's personal planner for recording of progs...

I guess I will buy 2 sets of gold plated scart 21 pin cables (one os not 21 pin) but I want to know first if the satellite control feature will work with my Panasonic 30 sky box and my E50. ie the personal planner will swtich on the E50 and record stored progs. Has anyone got it setup ok ?

As I read the manual, if you have everything set to RGB (as you should for best pic quality) it WON'T work..:thumbsdow

You have to put up with inferior composite pictures to use this feature....guess its something to do with RGB using different wires in the scart, so they cannot be used for the switching.

    RGB or switching......No contest eh?....:D

As stated if you connect via the RGB, ie TV output it won't work.

I don't think it is anthing to do with RGB not switching and it has widescreen switching abillity.

I think its the Sky TV out that don't send the power on signal or your TV would switch on!!!

I suppose you could make a scart cable that combines the correct wires from the RGB (TV out) and the switch signal from the video output (pin 8???)

Just a theory but pin 8 *may* work like this.

    0V normal TV
    3V Widescreen
    5V power on signal

    Anyone tried this???

I have an E100 and I guess it works the same way.

Using RGB you cannot use the AutoView feature of Sky to activate a recording.
    The only way it works is as follows;

Set the timer on the DVD recorder
Set the AutoView using the personal planner.

Put the recorder into standby an press Timer
Leave the Sky box on! (It will automatically change channels based on the AutoViews in the planner)

If you turn Sky off your recording will consist of a black screen.
