Hi, I am buying a VCR and PVR soon and need the PVR to switch on the VCR for timed recordings, for stuff I wanna keep. The PVR will be the Humax 8000T, and I am not sure about the VCR. However, I have seen a Sharp for sale which has satellite control as one of its features. Does this mean that it can be switched on by the Humax for recordings or not? Cheers

If the VCR says it has satellite control then it probably means IT controls the STB, be aware that there may be restrictions in the STB's the VCR supports, my aging Panasonic which controlled my PACE2200 without one single hitch couldn't control my SKY+ due to the change in remote codes.

I do wonder why you would need to control the VCR or the STB from either device.
With a single DTT tuner the Humax surely would be the better option to record onto it's internal harddrive and then just manually copy programming from the HD to the VCR.

    Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).

You can connect a VCR or DVD recorder or even a PC capture device to the video/audio output of the Humax (or any digital STB), that is what the outputs are for after all.
It isn't possible to record on the Humax from an external source:)
