I'm using one (see my sig - 92" fixed frame) with my JVC X3 and not had any problems at all. No blooming/hotspots, ripples or anything at all (love the velvet frame but the Sapphire badge slap bang in the middle of it is a little large!!! :)). It is in a complete bat cave though but I'm really happy with it.

Hi, thats the screen I have & from the same place.
There is VERY slight curl in the black boarder other than that it's fine, been using it 3 or 4 times
a week in the 8 months I've had it.
Hope that helps read about all the bad luck you have had.

I've had an electric sapphire screen for a long time now (probably 8 years+) and its still looking good with only VERY mild rippling that's well within acceptable levels.

Hi, thanks for that, having very slight edge curl would be perfectly acceptable to me, my previous optoma screens had very bad curl which affected both sides of the viewing area, this Grandview I have is showing signs of curl already, I'm not sure if it's due to the strange crimping though.

I'm going to go for the sapphire now, I'm a bit concerned as its over £100 cheaper than the Grandview but hopefully it will work out ok!.

Got that screen to replace the non slow retraction one, much better product, minor curl as has already been stated. They have a good returns policy if the screen is faulty

These do look incredible value for money, you can get the manual 92" for about £135 delivered.
I think this is definitely on my list.

Sounds good, I did want the slow retraction feature as I once had a little mishap after a bottle of red wine... The handle just seemed to slip from my fingers!, boy did it go with a bang!.

I can accept a little edge curl at this price, just as long as it doesn't affect the viewing area.

Just incredible this. My sapphire was delivered today at 5pm, box was pretty messed up, I could not see any damage apart from the bottom bar on the right side hanging down a cm or so. I hung it and pulled it out... The handle had been twisted around in the box and caused a stretch in the bottom border, a tear on left side of the backing, I found it very stiff to get the screen down but managed it, on retraction it goes up maybe 1/3rd then jams solid.

I just don't know what to do anymore apart from find out where the distributer is and travel hundreds of miles to hand pick one and take it home myself :-(

Unbelievable I can't believe the luck you have had with these screens. Hopefully they will sort you out. Apart from the issues how did the material etc compare to the Grandview.

@Aclass Technology, I know you sell these screens do you have many problems with them?

That might just as well be a million miles away. Only 2 couriers I'm told accept screens as big as 106", TNT being the other. My van is only a short wheelbase so it won't fit in. Mind you when I saw the screen in the back of a 'tuffnels' delivery van it wouldn't make a lot of difference..

I'm just so fed up of it all.

Not one, and any issues just call Sapphire and they sort.

Not supposed to be a sales plug just that we have used lots over time and Sapphire have been excellent

Me neither pal, I thought the material was good, possibly between the grandview and Optoma, only very slight crimping apart from a heavy crease in the left border but basically no edge curl at all. If I could only get a good one of these sapphires it would be perfect.

All made in the same factory so material is identical

After having several Optoma screens before this I would have to disagree the material is all the same, unless of course it's yet again quality control.

One flaw in the sapphire packaging which imo has caused the bottom border stretching, the handle protrudes further than the polystyrene packing ( I placed it close so it can be seen). The handle gets twisted which twists the bottom bar and in turn stretched the material.
The second pic is the impressions in the cardboard box opposite the handle. This is made worse as the screen is boxed with the handle facing down.

I spoke to the Welsh distributor this morning myself but they could not help me, it had to be my retailer that contacted them which he's done despite me knowing he's very busy this week.

Very poor packaging that - no excuse. They should get their act together.

Well the replacement arrived yesterday.... Gobsmacked at the state of the box and was going to refuse delivery but the wife said sign for it damaged as she's had enough of waiting in for deliveries,

The box was wedged between a spare wheel and another large box, anyway after checking I was gobsmacked it wasn't trash, I think the bottom bar has been twisted as it hangs down a little in the middle but does not affect the material.
There's a small crusty type lump on the rear left side edge where looks as if the backing paint was blobbed then broke off, this doesn't impact on the front side.

Screen retraction is much smoother but only just manages to get it rolled up fully under its own steam, I think this screen would have been perfect if it wasn't for the harsh delivery journey.

For my wife's sake and my own insanity I've decided to keep this one now and hope it keeps retracting ok in the future.

Happy days....??? Well it's a start lol!.

Is that the handle that pulls the screen down, it looks pretty big.
If you still have it what does it measure from bottom of the handle to start of the white screen.

The handle is pretty small really, measures 4" from bottom of handle to white screen, bottom border is 47mm.

According to my wife yes!, I tend to agree with her to, it has a 3yr warranty, watching Glasto on it tonight and it's an excellent image, seems to have no edge curl at all as yet. I would say for £200 for a 106" diag projection surface that can be retracted out of sight it's excellent.

It looks like the 92" is definitely on my list then. The electric ones look good value too.
Ideally I would get the Draper React but they are very pricy.

Well.I've had Optoma, Grandveiw and now Sapphire, I like the compact casing on the sapphire and despite it being £100 less than the Grandveiw I prefer it and highly recommend it. Just make sure you get a good one and then get passed the rough ride delivery and you will be sorted.

The electric versions I think would be great.
