    Hi,
I have been planning to get a new gpu to replace my faulty gtx 970 for a good few months now, but due to other costs I have had to delay it until now.

I was thinking of going for the 1070, but due to the high cost probably would have gone for a 1060 :rotfl:

However I'm a big civilization fan and with civ 6 about to be released an amd card would seem to be a better choice due to civ 6 developer's teaming up with amd again and directx 12 support.

Key requirements on the gpu are 2 HDMI ports (so knocks the xfx out) and quiet running for when I'm watching blu rays.

The MSI has hdr ability, but as there are no uhd drives out yet (or anytime soon by the looks of things) does it matter?

The Asus versions I am unsure about, also the gigabyte version

Tend to keep my gpu for 2 to 3 years, I know their is only something like a 3% gain from the 4g to 8g versions, but at only a 30 quid difference in price I would prefer to go for the 8g version to give me some future proofing.

Lastly I don't overclock my gpu but instead run them at stock speed.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

Just heard the fan noise on the sapphire rx480 8g (via utube) so that out. Does anyone have any opinions on the Asus (which I also have noise concerned about) or the gigabyte which I haven't looked into yet?

I was also looking at the Sapphire 8Gb Nitro+ OC model... was this what you heard? Was it awful loud or something?

Yep, every review mentioned the loudness of it, which is a shame as it's otherwise a good card. A utube search on it also shows how shockingly load it is.

I watched the tinytomlogan review from OCUK. I see what you mean. I don't know if it bothers me that much though - my 7990 card is just as loud.

Have a look at the msi version which is around the same price, it's got great reviews and is whisper quiet, I plan to get one just as soon as directx 12 for civ 6 is release
